iPhone X vs XS Max Comparison

iPhone X vs iPhone XS Max: are they that different?

As you may have gathered from their names, these two phones have a lot in common: dual cameras, high-resolution screens and sleek designs. So how are they different and which one is better?

iPhone X: the first of its kind

The iPhone X burst onto the market with a host of firsts. It was the first iPhone to have facial recognition replace the home button, the first iPhone to use OLED technology, and the first iPhone with the current modern design. It was also the first iPhone to sport smaller bezels. The 5.8-inch screen now fits in a much smaller form factor compared to the previous iPhone design. You also now get a dual 12MP rear camera and a 7MP front camera. The battery life is pretty good and will last you all day. The biggest negative of the iPhone X was its price which was set at £999 on release - another first for Apple.

iPhone XS Max: size increase and performance boost

These two phones have a lot of similarities, but the XS Max is most notably much bigger. It has a gorgeous 6.5-inch OLED display. The phone is thus larger and weighs about 30 grams more than the iPhone X. It also has a better battery life, 3174 mAh versus 2716 mAh. The camera is 12MP on the back and 7MP on the front, just like the iPhone X, but this one has Smart HDR technology so it performs better in more challenging lighting conditions. It also has a slightly faster processor: the A12 Bionic chip. In terms of price upon release, the iPhone XS Max also cost £999 as the iPhone X did.

Which is better, the iPhone X or the iPhone XS Max?

If you don't mind the extra size and weight, the iPhone XS Max is probably the phone for you, but if you're willing to compromise a little on battery life and speed, the iPhone X is still a great phone. Of course, you can get a much better deal on either model if you buy a refurbished iPhone X or iPhone XS Max. You can currently save around 50% compared to its brand-new price -- and you'll help save the environment too.
