Both the Pixel 4 and the Samsung Note 10 are powered by the Snapdragon 855 chip, an excellent processor that will keep both phones fast over the years to come. However, the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 has a bigger screen (6.3 inches vs. 5.7 inches in the Pixel 4) and a much bigger battery (3500 mAh vs. 2800 mAh). You'd think Google would have found a clever way to reduce battery consumption with software tricks? Not really, in fact, the Pixel 4 even has a power-hungry 90Hz refresh screen that looks really slick, but hurts the battery life even more.
If you work in an office and spend most of your day near a charger, you might not be worried about owning a Pixel 4. For those who need to go all day without charging their smartphones, then the Pixel 4 is not the smartphone you need.
When you compare the Pixel 4 vs the Samsung Galaxy Note 10, there's a huge difference in battery life that makes the Samsung Galaxy Note the clear favourite, but the Pixel 4 has a few cool tricks up its sleeve. Firstly, it has a radar chip that enables the fastest easy recognition unlocking system in a smartphone at the time of writing.
This radar chip also allows for some very interesting gesture controls - for example, if you're listening to streaming music, you can skip tracks by hovering your hand over the device. Many will probably consider these features to be merely gimmicks.
Don't forget Google's legendary photography software - this gives the Pixel 4 a slight advantage over the Samsung Galaxy Note 10, especially when taking night shots. Plus, there's also the fact that it's a 'pure' Google device. This will give you the cleanest version of Android, and perhaps a slightly better user experience than Samsung's iteration of the software.
If you spend a lot of time near the power socket and don't mind charging the Pixel before the end of the day, you might be undecided between the Samsung Galaxy Note 10 or the Pixel 4. In that case, consider the size of these two devices. The Pixel 4 is a much more compact phone that will be more comfortable to use with one hand. It is much more utilitarian in design than the Samsung Galaxy Note 10, but maybe you like that. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10 is better for watching YouTube videos and mobile gaming because of its larger screen, but it's also harder to hold because of its rounded edges - unless you put a case on it. Anyway, we won't tell you which device to choose, as they are all good options, provided you are aware of their strengths and weaknesses.
