iPhone XS vs iPhone 7 Plus Comparison

Does the iPhone XS offer much more for your money than the iPhone 7 Plus?

The iPhone 7 Plus and the iPhone XS are exactly the same size, and there are just 4 grams between them in weight, the iPhone XS remains a whisper lighter, so how do they differ exactly?

iPhone XS – it’s all about the screen

The iPhone X range came with a bunch of firsts, the most impressive being its screen. Gone were the bevels and notches and home button, and in their place was a stunning edge-to-edge screen. And that’s not all. This screen has OLED technology, so you get higher resolution, better colours, and sharper imagery. The screen on the iPhone XS is 5.8 inches, compared to 5.5 inches on the iPhone 7 Plus. Both the iPhone XS and the iPhone 7 Plus have dual 12 MP cameras at the rear, the 7 Plus was the first Apple phone to introduce it. Both phones also have a 7 MP selfie camera, but the TrueDepth technology on the iPhone XS is superior.

iPhone 7 Plus – a classic style with good battery life

The battery on both these phones will roughly last you the day, pretty impressive for the older iPhone 7. Many people still prefer the classic Apple home button and find it easier to operate. If you’re one of those people then the iPhone 7 Plus will surely please. The iPhone 7 Plus has an A10 processor so it’s not as fast as the A 12 on the XS. Storage wise the iPhone 7 offers up to 256 Gb, whereas the XS offers up to 512 Gb. Price-wise, the iPhone 7 Plus would set you back around £719 when first released, compared to around £999 for the iPhone XS. Both can now be bought refurbished for considerably less.

Which is the better phone?

There’s no doubt about it, the iPhone XS outshines the iPhone 7 Plus in several areas - screen size and resolution, camera capabilities, storage, and speed. But that doesn’t mean the iPhone 7 Plus is a bad buy. The iPhone 7 Plus has good battery life and takes great pictures – if you’re not a big gamer or video-watcher, then you can save yourself the cash and still be the owner of a nice big phone with a decent-sized screen.
