As Apple’s annual Keynote looms closer, Back Market stacks up the social media rumours to tell you what’s fake news and what we should be expecting.
It's almost that time again – Apple's fall Keynote event – where the brand announces the launch of new software and devices. Expect the iPhone 16, 16 Pro and many more moderations of the devices you know and love.
The official date for the Keynote speech is September 9.
For 2024, Apple might have the task of dealing with gripes from past years. In 2023, new Apple launches included the AirPods Pro 2 and the iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max. After the launch of the iPhone 15, users not only complained that there wasn't enough differentiation to justify paying for a new phone but their devices would often overheat.
Tons of rumors are flying around about what to expect and the next device likely to fall from the Apple tree (excuse the Dad joke). It can be tricky to decipher what's likely and what's wishful thinking. Fortunately, our Back Market expert Kewin Charron is here to weigh in on some of the biggest Apple gossip – take a look.
Expert take: "Each year bezels are getting thinner, but the differences are not that noticeable. In one word (or two)... Who cares?"
Expert take: “Looks like the latest specs leaks are saying the battery will be 4,676 mAh vs 4422 mAh for the iPhone 15 Pro Max.” says Kewin. “That’s a 5% increase in power, and potentially a more efficient Chip (A18 Pro).”
Expert take: “Last year’s issues on iPhone 15 Pro models will surely be addressed and corrected.”
Expert take: "New colours have been confirmed! Less pastel.”
Expert take: "This partnership could greatly improve diabetes management by integrating Senseonics' CGM sensor with the Apple Watch, offering continuous glucose monitoring and allowing users to proactively manage their health. It also strengthens Apple's position in health tech."
Expert take: "Looks like a standard upgrade for the Apple Watch this year. The real reason for this potential light upgrade is due to Apple recently pausing its internal project to develop a microLED display for the Apple Watch."
Expert take: "Nothing is really confirming that," Kewin says. "But, potentially there's a bigger Apple Watch upgrade, the 'Apple Watch X.'
Expert take: "Same as before – nothing is really confirming that."
Expert take: "Apple plans to launch the AirPods 4 in 2 versions: a traditional open-fit design similar to the AirPods 3/2/1 and an improved in-ear model with active noise cancellation, similar to the AirPods Pro but at a lower price. With this launch, Apple would discontinue the AirPods 2 and 3, offering only the new AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2 in its store. Additionally, the AirPods 4 will feature different charging options, with wireless charging exclusive to the noise-canceling model, while both versions will include USB-C ports, following the transition from Lightning seen in the AirPods Pro 2."
